Welcome to the
String Teachers Collective

About Us

Who We Are

Dr. Katherine Sinsabaugh and Dr. Jill Schultz, both graduates of TC, are experienced string teachers with large, well-respected orchestra programs. Both have taught in NYC schools as well as suburban environments. In the search of becoming better teachers, both have sought out unique programs and master pedagogues that informed their own teaching. Over the years, they have traveled extensively in search of string pedagogical ideas and community. This inspired them to create a local tri-state string learning community.

What Is STC?

What is the String Teachers Collective? The purpose of this string community is to foster a cooperative learning environment among all string teachers, string players, and anyone interested in strings. This community will give music education students and tri-state area string teachers a forum to find out about other string programs and how they are organized, gain practical knowledge, engage with many knowledgeable voices in string pedagogy and, most importantly form a community of learners.
